Three day backcountry trip
Day 1: We meet in Asahikawa and head out touring. Return via a ramen restaurant to stay in a small ryokan in Asahikawa.
Day 2: The weather is good, so we climb Kurodake (1984m) and ski some big laps in the alpine. Drop in to the onsen, then return to stay in Asahikawa for dinner at a local sushi place.
Day 3: It’s windy. Head to some low, sheltered hills with fun playful lines before dropping the group off at Asahikawa.

Five day backcountry and lifts
Day 1: Meet at Furano. It’s dumping at Asahidake so we head up there and lap the ski area with a few short hikes for the good lines. Stay in an onsen at Asahidake.
Day 2: The weather is clear so we climb Asahidake and ski down Hokkaido’s biggest peak. Stay at Asahidake.
Day 3: Head to Sounkyo and lap the tram at Kurodake. It’s a good time. Stay in a small pension attached to an onsen in Sounkyo.
Day 4: Sample some of the backcountry out of Sounkyo. More onsens, stay in Sounkyo.
Day 5: Cut some quick laps in the backcountry north of Asahikawa, then drop off at Asahikawa train station.

10 day backcountry and lifts
Day 1: Meet at Chitose Airport. Head to Otaru.
Day 2: Ski lifts at Kokusai (and eat curry ramen. Mmm). Head to the onsen after skiing and stay in Otaru.
Day 3: It’s dumping at Teine. Ride lifts there, check out the nightlife in Sapporo, stay in Otaru.
Day 4: Return to Teine to hike some laps on the back side. Drive to Asahikawa and stay in a small ryokan.
Day 5: Head up to Asahidake for some pow laps off the tram with a few short hikes to get the good lines. Onsen on the way back to Asahikawa.
Day 6: Backcountry north of Asahikawa. It’s good there. Stay in Asahikawa.
Day 7: Everyone is tired, so we take a day off. The keen people ski a few lazy laps at Kamui. Stay in Asahikawa
Day 8: Head to Tokachidake and go touring. Stay at an onsen in the mountains.
Day 9: More touring around Tokachidake. Stay at the onsen.
Day 10: Return to Chitose.
